I've been so busy with all kinds of things these last few months, I haven't been able to sit down and enjoy a good book. Not only did I get some reading in this weekend, I actually finished up Kathryn Finney's new book, "The Budget Fashionista". I love her blog too.
The book covered some great shopping, closet, and wardrobe tips, but I was really glad to get all the great tips on financial management and budgeting. It's definitely something I need to concentrate more on and reading this book gave me a big reminder I need to be more proactive about it. One of her tips that I do practice is to not spend what I don't have -- that is, I never use my credit card for shopping. I always use my debit card. I only keep my American Express in my wallet for emergencies and I know if I use that for a purchase I need to pay the full amount the next month, so it keeps me and my budget in check. I love the fashion advice in this book and it's fun style. Take it to the beach or the corner cafe for some fun summer reading where your wallet and your closet will thank you in the long run! (The book is a deal on Amazon for less than 10 bucks.)
Also a big win this weekend, I got these great silver heeled butterfly slingback sandals at the Marc Jacobs boutique for 70% off. They are super comfy! (Pictured here is Silver Blue, mine is just plain o' sparkly silver).
