Win a Copy of The DIY Wedding by Kelly Bare
Let's face it, it's not easy to plan your own wedding - somehow I lived through this in the fall of 2006 in the midst of all my other girlfriends getting married each month, and for work, CRAFT magazine launching on the newsstands. (You can see my wedding post here from earlier this year.) If only I had this book, The DIY Wedding: Celebrate Your Day Your Way by Kelly Bare, I would have saved myself from so much headache through wasted months that now I consider a huge learning process. Trust me, time is precious when you are planning a wedding (weeks, especiall months) so you'll be able to use this book like a true guidebook. You'll get great advice on how to save money on all those things that cost so darn much -- from flowers, invitations, favors, decor, food, and more. I also love the crafty projects Kelly brings into the book in each chapter so you can really bring your own touch to your wedding from making jewelry for your bridesmaids to creating your own table centerpieces. Plus each chapter is chock full of tips from budgeting to organizing, as well as advice on how to deal or chose vendors. I was really honored to be asked to write the forward to this book and I know if you are a crafty DIY'er like me, you'll love reading every page of this book!
For Coquette readers, I'm giving away 1 copy of The DIY Wedding. Just leave a comment to this blog post by Thursday at midnight (PST) and I'll pick a winner to announce on Friday on Coquette.

Good luck!

My plan is that if I am destined to win this book, I'll display it as a coffee table book in hopes that my girlfriend of two years will see it--and hopefully not use it as a coaster--and begin to think that she isn't getting any younger and that she needs to hurry and propose to me and thus put us on track to living happily ever after!

I am getting married for the first time next year but at 40 years of age I am so past the "big" wedding. I am hoping this book has some creative ideas to make my wedding special without being so traditional.

Hi! I could really use this for a July 2008 wedding to help make the wedding special on a budget! Thanks

I think this would be an interesting book to read. Although I am not planning a wedding, I think there will be tips that I can apply to other events. I might even help someone else to plan a wedding.

Being new to the wedding planner event venue I see it everyday; girls letting everyone else tell them how their wedding should be. It would be nice to have a guide to go by in order to help them.

Posted by: Adrienne | November 22, 2007 at 06:57 AM
Oh goooooosh I need that. My wedding is a year and a half away, but from everything I've heard you can't start planning too soon. And both my fiance and I will have just graduated (me with my 2nd degree and he with his first), and be moving from Florida to Boston and be starting new jobs/ careers! So planning this wedding ahead of time is so crutial! Thanks for writing this blog. I read everyday, and I just love everything you write about!
