PBS - The Complete Jane Austen

I was very excited when PBS contacted me to contribute a review to a Jane Austen movie during Masterpiece Theater's Complete Jane Austen series that's happening now. I'm a huge fan of Jane Austen and I think you all know how much I love those British period movies (see previous post here).

The movie I reviewed is Northanger Abbey which airs this Sunday night at 9pm EST. You can read my fashion review on the movie here on PBS' Remotely Connected blog. In my review, I talk about my love for bonnets, empire-waists, and cropped jackets. ooh! So don't forget to watch the movie Sunday night and I'm looking forward to hearing your comments!

One of my favorite outfits worn by actress Felicity James was this powder blue coat with tiny buttons.

As a little gift, I got the Jane Austen action figure complete with a quill and writing desk. There's a Jane Austen flickr group for the PBS series with lots of photos of little Jane in some crazy situations. I took a photo of Jane at Macworld next to a MacBook Air asking the question, "Would Jane use a MacBook Air today?"

Although the literature in question leaves me somewhat cold for idiosyncratic reasons (the maniacally focused-on-income gossip of a spinster ~sorry!), the fashion and beauty ideals of the times are lovely in their ethereal depiction.
This seems a lovely production to watch for the above reasons.
Nice work you do here!
