National Wear Red Day

Today is National Wear Red Day and the importance of this day isn't all about the fashion. You've probably been seeing it all around the web. It's a new campaign by the American Heart Association for us women to pay more attention to the health of our hearts. I know this because years ago I had high-cholesterol. Yes at 28 or 29, something crazy like that. You couldn't tell by looking at me but it was due to too many late nights at the office eating take-out food, being over-stressed, and definitely not exercising. I just went into the doctor for a routine physical and my doctor recommeded a blood test to check everything. Since it was detected early, I never had to go on medication. Instead I made a conscious decision that I didn't want a heart-attack so early in life, and proceeded to change my diet and began to exercise. So today, support your heart, your health, and Go Red!
Pictured above is the Thomasina Shirtdress ($118) in Cherry from Anthropologie. A perfect dress to wear today!

a very good cause, and an awesome red dress! i love the styling of that picture too...
i had high cholesterol at 23 (!), from all the same things you mentioned (plus wicked genetic inheritance from my dad's side)--wear red day is a great reminder to pay attention to the good old ticker!
women are also less likely to have as dramatic symptoms of heart disease and even heart attack than men, and thus less likely to get treated or survive a heart attack, so we should all get checked out regularly, no matter how slim we are or how healthy we feel!
