Being pregnant I can't be bothered to bend down and tie my shoes which is why I mostly wear ballet flats. But when the weather gets cold and windy here in SF I like the option of wearing sneakers, especially when I walk Lulu. My stylish gay neighbor showed off to me a few weeks ago his new purchase for an afternoon boat ride along the bay, a pair of these Converse All Star Slip Ons ($47 at Zappos). This was perfect! Just what I needed -- stylish sneakers and no shoelaces! I bought them in black and they are really comfy. I also wanted them in grey but they are sold out in my size. Here's to hoping they get some new inventory in soon. It's so perfect for summer and has also been spotted on the likes of Heidi Klum while shopping in LA.

Yes they are comfy and tight enough for me. If you are worried about it, try them on at a shoe store to find your best fit. The run small so you may need to go 1 or 1/2 size down.

Are they comfy enough, supportive enough, without being tied tight, though? That's what I want to know. They look awesome, but I need good support and am not sure having them loose would work for me. Hmmm. Looking forward to your answer!

i swear they had the one-star version of these at Target not long ago! worth a look if the grey ones don't make it to Zappos in time. speaking of that Heidi Klum photo--have you weighed in on the baggy jeans/paperbag waist trend that seems to be going on? I don't think I care for it any more than the ultra-skinny jean (I don't think either do much for most figures), but I'm interested to hear what you think (apologies if I somehow missed a post on it in the postpartum haze).

When I was 10, I had Converse like these in red. With laces, though. I still think they were the best tennis shoes I ever had (as we called them). I think of them often.

There is no substitute for a pair of Converse sneakers. They are the quintessential classic-retro option for both men and women. I have been wearing them for years and intend doing so for another three decades ( I’m 38 ). If you browse through my site, you’ll find reference made to this fashion sneaker all the time. They happen to be the number one casual shoe on the streets of Paris in grey. Naturally, I felt right at home.
