My friend Vickie Howell pointed me to the gorgeous coats at Soïa & Kyo, a Candian based line. These coats give Marc Jacobs a run for his money because they are stylish and young and all under $500. My favorite is Cali above in grey ($395) although I'm leaning towards seriously buying the hip puffy Sheena coat below.
Sheena ($315 lots of colors) and Doriane Black Leather Coat ($495)

love the Cali and Betty styles...but I already bought one of their trench coats a few months ago, on sale! :) love their stuff!
