Today is the debut of the Stella McCartney line at H&M. Mass hysteria ensues all over the world, except here in San Francisco where there is no store open yet. I just sit here calmly drinking my coffee.
My friend Leigh in NY called me around noon eastern time to tell me that the entire line at the 5th avenue store was sold out. She arrived at 9:30am eagerly awaiting the 10am opening to find that there were already 300 people in line ahead of her. Women would walk by and ask her what they all were waiting for. When they found out it was for Stella Mc Cartney, they'd call the office to say they would be late and would stand in line themselves.
Among all the chaos, Leigh said that there were tons of news cameras including MTV. But no one really wanted to be interviewed because everyone was trying to grab the clothes they wanted! Thankfully Leigh got all the clothes she's been eyeing. Soooo stressful!
Here's a photo from a store in Stockholm but I suspect it is just like all the other stores around the globe. Now I'm really scared for the SF store opening. I'm not one for crowds but I do want to get myself a pair of those skinny jeans and a bunch of other things. Its amazing to see these photos and think about what women will go through all in the name of fashion and a bargain.
