I am really looking forward to getting my hands on the new issue of French Vogue featuring Kate Moss as the Special Guest Editor. I found out from Fashion Week Daily in "The Return of Kate Moss", all about the issue and its beautiful design direction. Excuse me, I mean, BEAUTIFUL. This is a great return to fashion for Kate. And who better to help than the French - Merci!
Some say we are glorifying a drug addict, I say she is doing her job. Kate Moss is a part of fashion history and her sense of style off the runway is impeccable. (Take that Sienna Miller!) She was actually given this duty before the whole drug scandal happened and had to leave in the middle of the project to enter rehab. I like that this issue is centering back around a concept of style. The covers are inspired by the French director Jean Cocteau's 1946 film, La Belle et la BĂȘte (Beauty and the Beast). My two favorite covers are here. The one above has Kate in a Dior Homme jacket and Superfine skinny jeans with white cursive type layered over with Cocteau's title giving it a sense of grittiness and modern edge.
The other cover I like is this one of her in a glamorous Chanel couture cape, clutching the "G" of Vogue ever so cooly against her chest. The magazine makes no qualms to hide what happened to Kate, publishing in the back a photo Kate took of herself post-rehab, la signal of her return to health. I am just finally looking forward to an issue of a fashion magazine all about style and without a Hollywood celebrity on the cover!
