I am really excited to let you all know what has been going on with me lately. Make Magazine's Maker Faire is coming up! The fair will be on the weekend of April 22-23 at the San Mateo County Fairgrounds (details at end of post). And I've been busy, let me tell you. The event celebrates the DIY spirit and I am coordinating the crafting track. (For you guys who are reading, there will still be lots of robots, electronics, a fire show and more. Don't worry!)
To start, I am helping Diana Eng and Emily Albinski coordinate their Fashion Tech show where they will launch their new brand, Black Box Nation. Their collective work is amazing and I can't wait for them to debut the line of technology related clothing and jewelry. The show is Saturday night at 6pm on April 22. More info on the show is here on the Make Blog.
Swap-O-Rama-Rama is the DIY fashion event of the season. Bring a bunch of old clothes and 5 bucks to refashion to your hearts content. Teamed up with local Stitch Lounge, the amazing list of workshops and experts to help you make your creations unique is something you won't want to miss. All this is topped off with a fun fashion show of everyone's creations! The Swap happens both Saturday and Sunday.
Bazaar Bizarre is "Not Yo Mama's Craft Fair" featuring a wide array of vendors selling indie crafts from cute jewelry, hip clothes, kitschy handbags, paper goods and more.
Tons of craft workshops are also featured such as Jess Hutch's "Knit a Toy" where you can learn how to knit this cute character George or Syuzi Pakhchyan's "Wearable Light Bracelet". You will also learn silkscreening, printing with Gocco, thrift store felting, hand spinning yarn, and more. See the full list of craft workshops.
Please say "Hi" if you come to the Maker Faire! I look forward to meeting everyone.
