It's summer but all the coolest looks seemed to be centered on crochet. Hence July's theme for Coquette Things. From simple details to full dresses, like this Sky Crochet Tube Top ($64). Check out all these crochet looks and learn how to do it yourself.
(Typepad has been down all morning and afternoon so this is a bit late today at 7:35pm. argh!)
Ok people! It's finally here -- Project Runway 3 and I'm ready to be hooked on to TV again. It's tonight at 10pm on Bravo. More fashion challenges, cool designs, catty designers, Heidi's auf weidersein, Michael Kors' comments, and my favorite crush Tim Gunn. There's one gal from San Francisco, Stacey Estrella, who I'm looking forward to see her design work considering she's been working in high-tech here in the valley. But I don't have any picks yet because it really has to be about the work, ya know.

So these last couple days I've been talking with my friend and Project Runway 2 veteran Diana Eng about what she thought about this new season. Diana went to the PR3 premiere party last night in NY and got to meet the whole new cast. Here's what she says.
Nat: What advice would you give to the new designers of Project Runway?
Diana: I think the new designers should try to think of the show as a fun experience and make the most of it.
Nat: What did you take away from the whole experience?
Diana: The show was a lot of fun, and openned many doors and opportunities for me. It also helped me to develop as a person and a designer. I learned how to wear make-up and formed a stronger personal design philosophy.
Diana: The season 3 folks are really nice! Katheryn is also from RISD, and we got along really well. She's very nice and laid back.
Thanks Diana for the quick chat!
Please check out the fully launched Black Box Nation featuring the work of Diana Eng and Emily Albinski. Pick up some of their cool jewelry for yourself.
And watch Project Runway tonight on Bravo at 10pm!
I don't know why but if you gather a bunch of women together in a room, after the discussions over Suri Cruise's existence and Kate Bosworth's shrinking body, ultimately the hottest topic centers around skin care and cosmetics. So this past weekend while in Tahoe for my good friend's bachelorette, we got to talking about the Obagi skincare line. Nevermind that this has already been a hot topic with another group of girlfriends of mine, including one who is a licensed facialist and has the most flawless skin I have ever seen.
So why is it I am so afraid to just plunk down money for this? I am afraid to waste another $200 on something that won't work. I have broken out or been in rashes. Apparently the Obagi-C line is good for those with sensitive skin. It helps even skin tone and lighten small freckles on your face (which I have from the summers of swimming as a kid). It's much more mild than the aggressive Nu Derm line.
LovelySkin.com sells the Obagi line and you'll also get free shipping. I definitely will talk to my dermatologist about this, but if anyone has tried out this line, please comment and let me know what you think about it.
On another note, my friend Andy sent this around. If you got to New Beauty and join their Test Tube program, for a mere $25 every 4 months you'll be sent some high end beauty and skincare products to sample (even some Obagi in there). It seems like a great way to be able to try new things without bursting your wallet.
Gwen loves herself a little Gucci, as you can see here with her logo clad $790 Gucci baby sling (from US Weekly). I'm sure we'll start to see more luxe logo baby slings to come from other brands, as she'll probably start this new trend.
I still say she's one of the most stylish mom's around and was definitely so while preggers. I like her shirt dress over jeans and red platform sandals.
In honor of Sunday's final World Cup game France vs. Italy, I've gathered here all things bleu so we can celebrate French victory properly and of course, be stylish. Here's the perfect summer tank ($16) from Urban Outfitters to wear with jeans when your rooting on your favorite team at the corner bar while looking sexy around all the boys. (Naturellement!)
Please also check out Non Dairy Diary for the cutest french soccer illustrations!!! (She has translated the french for you too!)
Happy First Birthday Coquette! I can't believe it's been a year already since my first post! I started this blog to share my fashion and style ideas -- of course, with that digital edge. In the beginning, just a handful of my close friends were reading it. Now, let's just say traffic is soaring and Coquette has visitors from all over the world! Thanks to all who are readers! I've enjoyed your comments and emails. Thanks also to the Glam Network and my fellow fashion bloggers for their support and friendship. Most of all thanks to my love, Gilles, for the inspiration.
Here's the top 10 most popular posts I've done this year either by traffic hits or comments. I also think these posts really reflect the variety I have up on Coquette and my personality. Thank you so much for reading, commenting, and enjoying the blog. Lots more fun in fashion to come this year!
There's nothing more feminine than a little tie front belt, keeping the cinched waist silhouette, but with a much softer and feminine feel. This new trend in blouses look great paired with skinny jeans or a flouncy skirt. I love this blockprint pullover ($98) from Anthropologie.
I just did an interview for Venuszine.com, the online site to Venus magazine. I'm in the D.I.Y section and you can read my interview Creativity meets Technology. Thank you to Venuszine and to writer/crafter Cat Morley. Also, don't miss Cat's cool crafty blog, Cut Out + Keep.
Gilles and I are going away for the long weekend starting Sunday. Coquette will be back up in full swing on Wednesday. Happy 4th of July everyone!
