Angel Chang's fashion technology show on Thursday, Sept 7th was a mix of high-fashion infused with technology. Yes! It's starting to happen! From special inks that change colors or disappear to hip iPod jackets, the show was the first step in the movement towards collaboration to bring together these worlds. This chiffon pleated sunburst pattern dress turns yellow in heat creating a new dress as you walk from outside to inside. The special inking process was developed by NYU ITP grads Sonali Sridhar and Mouna Andraos.
The dress above was silkscreened with the special ink that reveals a line pattern when exposed to sunlight.
I love the band of this romper and how the pattern "dissapears" with heat (demoed with a hair dryer).
iPod jacket with built in headphones developed in collaboration with Burton (makers of snowboarding gear).
The charmeuse borders of this 5-layer skirt contain a series of hidden 3-D images worked in collaboration with 3-D technologist Adam Beckerman (see more on Adam's website - www.visualife.tv).
Here's all the models posing in their outfits.
