Stylish Flat Boots

I love wearing boots with heels but most of the time it's not practical for me. And since I already have a pair of Siegerson Morrison heeled boots that are holding up quite nicely these last few years, I'm looking for a more stylish pair of flat boots, that don't look equestrian or cowboy in anyway. Lastly, no Uggs. I found hese funky Delman Kimana Tall Patent Leather Boot ($495 at Bloomingdales) and love them! They look so stylish I can imagine some Japanese girl in Harajuku wearing them with her plaid wool skirt.

Things are getting colder and nothing is more cozy than a cable knit sweater. The classic fisherman's sweater is always full of cream cabling goodness but I like this Alice + Olivia hand knit cardigan ($398 at Shopbop) that takes a modern cut with 3/4 bell sleeves and snap buttons at the top. Cute!

Hotel Chevalier and The Darjeeling Limited

Wes Anderson movies always have that certain style and of course that famous Futura font. I downloaded the free short film Hotel Chevalier via iTunes and feel in love with the movie's quirky set decor and style. The art direction by Kris Moran is gorgeous. I love the infusion of the color yellow through the film. I also love Natalie Portman's boots. Watch it now! This short movie is actually a prequel to the movie, The Darjeeling Limited that's out now in theaters.

Did you know that Marc Jacobs teamed up with Wes Anderson to make the look for The Darjeeling Limited?

The designer, as artistic director of Louis Vuitton, teamed with Anderson to come up with a new look -- flannel suits that don't cinch at the shoulders or reveal naked ankles -- and a set of luggage for his latest film, "The Darjeeling Limited." The pairing makes perfect sense. Jacobs' fashion shows have an ethereal, cinematic quality, and he even name-checked Bernardo Bertolucci as inspiration for a recent collection. Anderson's fastidious attention to quirky style details in his films is legendary.

With soft long flowy layers and tiers, the fashions that came down the the runway at the Viktor & Rolf Spring Summer 2008 Fashion Show in Paris mixed modern elegance with a musical edge. It was hard rock meets the violin, which was an iconic theme done with a perfect twist. The minimalist clean palette of white, black, and soft pale pink showed off the amazing layers, cuts, and shapes of the designs that graced the runway. DIY Fashion at Teen Vogue

First off, I hate to say this but I've recently become addicted to MTV's The Hills. I can't help it. I know it's all fake but I just like getting a glimpse into Teen Vogue where LC and Whitney work. Speaking of Teen Vogue, is it just me or is this magazine better than Vogue itself?

I love the DIY fashion features they are doing with some of the top fashion designers to help you create your own look. I'm not sure why Vogue or other fashion mags aren't picking up on this trend but I think Project Runway has certainly helped push this movement.

So take a visit to Teen Vogue's DIY section and learn how to make your own LBD with Marchesa, sew up a party dress with Valentine Leung, or chic up a basic white oxford with Phillip Lim. All you need is some scissors and needle/thread to start making your own fashion statement.
