Lauren Moffatt Spring Collection 2008

I love the Spring collection by designer Lauren Moffatt. She started her fashion line in 2000, sewing all of the several hundred pieces by herself on her 31-foot sailboat home docked in the Hudson River in NY. Later that next year, she was named one of 10 up and coming designers by WWD. Her vintage-chic style stays true and she mixes graphic prints with classic silhouettes. Her dresses are adorable and I love the simplicity of the dresses paired with a thick belt shown above.

The new Sephora book hits bookstores today and to celebrate the launch, we've got a special contest here on Coquette. We want to know "What's in Your Beauty Bag?" and all you have to do is snap a quick photo of your beauty bag and its contents, and leave a comment to this post!

Here's the easy rules:
1) Take a photo of your beauty bag and its contents.
2) Upload the photo to your web site, flickr, or other photo sharing site.
3) Leave a comment to this post (make sure you include your email address in the form which will not be published) and include the URL to the photo of your beauty bag. (Only entries with photos will be considered. Please do not email photos.)

As for myself, I keep it short and sweet in my beauty bag for my purse, everything goes in a Lotta Jansdotter linen print zip bag. Inside I have a couple of Chanel lipsticks, Chanel lipgloss, Mac blotting powder, and Korres body butter in guava for my dry hands.

Ruffle Jackets

It's all about ruffles this Spring and I love having the option of a light jacket that could easily be layered over a small sweater, t-shirt, or tank. The Vendor's Choice Jacket ($98 at Anthropologie) in crisp linen is just the one to wear. The ivory color is easy to compliment any Spring outfit and the ruffle detail gives it that little extra hint of girly style.

Sephora - The Book!

I make no secret how much I love stepping into a Sephora store. Just looking at all the colors, makeup, skincare, and accessories make me happy. I'm even happier now to have a preview of the new book available next Tuesday April 15th, Sephora: The Ultimate Guide to Makeup, Skin, and Hair from the Beauty Authority by Melissa Schweiger. I love the book cover with a stunning image of model Maggie Ritzer and you won't be disappointed with what's inside. Schweiger, a former beauty editor at Sephora dishes all those makeup secrets we all want to know, as well as tips and techniques. There's a whole chapter devoted to "Skin Smarts" one of beauty topics I'm most interested in. With its stunning full-color photography, reading this book is just like stepping into the Sephora candy shop!

I love the site Indie Fixx and you can check out the new Spring Fashion & Accessories Guide to see the latest indie designer wares. I love this Gigi Dress ($160 at Robert Oaks) made with bamboo and organic cotton fabric. The tiny twisted cord is a beautiful detail to the dress.
