I'm seriously crushing over this sleek yet casual look of Penelope Cruz in a tuxedo blazer over jeans. Yes the boyfriend blazer is in style this season but take it up a notch with a variation of the tuxedo jacket.
Gossip Girl brought headbands into the forefront but these headbands by Bambako take them to a whole new sophisticated level. Details such as feathers, beading, and ornate ribbons make these a perfect compliment to any outfit.
For the Fall/Winter 09 collection, Abigail wanted to create pieces that were fun, strong, and ultra femme.
"This season, I was really drawn to bold statement pieces by playing with different textures and heavy splashes of color in between. I wanted to appeal to a range of girls - from yuppies to hipsters," says Abigail.
Last night, I got the chance to meet fashion designer Rachel Roy and talk to her about her new line, RACHEL Rachel Roy that's available exclusively at Macy's, macys.com, and on rachelroy.com. The collection is hip, fresh, and young. I love all the pieces that I really can't decide what I want. But I did pick a few items on my wish list which are at the end of this post.
I got a chance to talk to Rachel (I was so nervous!) and I asked her what her inspiration was in creating this new line.
Here's what Rachel Roy said:
"I wanted to do a collection for younger girls that had the same sensibility as my designer collection but edgier, younger and faster. Something that went with the trends more than my designer collection. For me, it's so much fun because I put on a different hat coming into the RACHEL Rachel Ray studio -- it's super creative. The graffiti was done by my Creative Director's brother-in-law so it's a joint effort, a real family. We get inspired from art, the streets, urban youth, girls from London, girls from Asia. It's a really good energy in that studio. I love it!"
After standing for a few hours, the models had some fun and got down to the music at the close of the event.
I'm loving the leather jewelry and flowered headband/pins from Handle & Spout. Started by friends Corinne Gill and Blake Ramsey, the crafty duo are inspired by '30s and '40s glamour. The accessories in their line are all super affordable with most items under $35. They are the perfect gift for girlfriends, or can be the perfect accessory for the bride and bridesmaids at weddings. See more in the Handle & Spout slideshow on Stylehive.
I'm meeting and interviewing fashion designer Rachel Roy tonight at her Macy's event in Union Square, San Francisco. She'll be there from 6-8pm so come by if you are in the Bay Area. Rachel will be unveiling her new Rachel Rachel Roy collection that's exclusive to Macy's and her online store.
Here's Rachel Roy on Teen Vogue showing off her DIY skills with this project on how to turn a t-shirt into a punky prom dress.
Earlier in June I posted some cute outfits and accessories with zippers. Well the zipper trend is even stronger this fall, making it's way to even more clothing and accessories. I love this Mason by Michelle Mason Zip Shirtdress ($407 at Shopbop) to pair over leggings or tights and this simple Loeffler Randall Double Zipper Top (On Sale for $120.40 at Shopbop). Both say stylish without going over the edge in punk.
With winter approaching, one of my key problems is that I just get dry all over. Dry skin and lips are at the top of my list. I've been using their Guava Body Butter ($21) for over a year now so I'm so glad I discovered some more of the great natural products from Korres for my face. First off, the Korres Lip Butters ($9) are amazing! With shea butter and rice wax, you lips feel amazingly hydrated along with a sheer tint of color added in. (There are 7 tints to choose from.) I've never experienced anything like it. It also doubles as a cheek tint so you'll always look fresh and natural when you are on the go.
For my face, which is really sensitive, I like the Korres Wild Rose 24-hour Moisturizer for normal to dry skin ($32.50). It's light and quickly absorbs into the skin to keep it moisturized. Just what I need. The light rose sent is also nice and not overpowering like some beauty products.
