There's a huge nautical influence coming up for Spring (note my previous post on ropes in fashion). My all-time favorite are nautical stripes. Navy and white or black and white -- you take your pick. This look is timeless as seen from Coco Chanel in the 1930's, Audrey Tatou playing Chanel in the movie Coco Avant Chanel, and they lovely Audrey Hepburn from the 1960's. Pair these easy, breezy t-shirts with a single long-chain necklace (pearls, beads, or otherwise a la Chanel) and prepare to update your stripy look for spring 2010.
Here are some variations of the nautical stripes I love:
Aerie Striped Boatneck T ($19.50 at American Eagle)
Miss Alice Boatneck Striped Tee Shirt ($28.80 at yesstyle.com)
Michael Stars 'Rivera' Stripe Tee ($56 at Nordstrom)
Lucca Couture Striped Tunic ($28 at Urban Outfitters)
BDG Boxy Stripe Pullover Sweater ($48 at Urban Outfitters)
Button Shoulder Stripe Top ($17.80 at Forever 21)
Striped Boatneck T ($22.50 at Gap)
