DIY Fashion: Metallic Heels

DIY fashion is easy! CRAFT has a great tutorial on how to turn an old pair of black heels into metallic pumps using Krylon's copper leafing pen. And if you dance all night long and scuff your copper heels, just touch them up with another pass of the leafing pen before the next soiree!

Coach Madison Clutch

I love Molly Sims' style and loved catching her on this past season's The Rachel Zoe Project. Having a great clutch is essential for an evening out and she looks stunning in all black, carrying her Coach Madison Gathered Leather Large Clutch ($298). I've been searching for an affordable clutch and love the textured leather design and large shape. Pick one up in black or purple.

Military Style

Military is in for fall and it's such an easy look to put together. All you need is one piece in your outfit in olive green. It can even just be the accessories too! Don't spend too much on a trend like this but buying one key jacket or pants will take you far this season. I love this James Perse Cotton Cropped Military Jacket ($295 at Bloomingdales) because the cropped look is much more fresh and feminine than many of the large cargo styles that are floating around. Plus it looks more stylish and less about "I'm going into a war zone."

Poketo for Target

The Poketo for Target collection came out in August while I was in France so I didn't get a chance to see it in the stores. Poketo is an innovator in artist-designed lifestyle wares and it's so cool to see their new collaboration, Poketo for Target featuring a line of some amazing totes, bags, wallets, umbrellas, and more! I first met Angie Myung and Ted Vadakan from Poketo many years ago while we were all traveling around in the craft fair circuit. The LA based duo started by creating limited-edition artist wallets which were like little pieces of art you could carry around with you. (I am happy to have one of them.) The first run of wallets were very successful, so Angie and Ted continued to make more with new artists each time.

The Poketo for Target collection was really successful and sold out. The good news is that Target is restocking them as we speak so you can still shop for some of your favorites in store or online. Here are a few available Poketo goods: Poketo Birds flight bag ($29.99) shown at top left, and the Poketo Zig Zag Crossbody Hobo ($19.99).

Thanks to Angie, who gave me this Poketo Monsters Tote designed by Katharina Leuzinger as a gift! I love how this bag folds up into the small zip bag so I can easily leave it in Chloe's stroller to use when we go to the store. Of course, as you can see, she loves the bag too!

Cape Coats

Ever since my friend Missy put me on a hunt for an affordable camel colored cape, I've been obsessed. I can't find all of them in camel, but I do come across some gems like this Karen Millen Camel Cape ($475) that's sold exclusively online. (Don't forget it's UK sizing if you order!) I love the many ways in which you can wear it and dress it up or down. Pictured below is how it is without the cape buttoned across the front. I mean cute, right?

Think sophisticated lady-like looks with dresses and skirts below the knee and fabulous pant suits. Bringing in a pop of color, Tory chose bright orange and shimmery gold (even in pants!) to be accent marks in some of her looks. Colorful handbags matched each outfit with my favorite bag being the black and cream tote.
