Here is this week's Web Snob with the latest in fashion, beauty, celeb, and lifestyle:
Go J.Crew for delivering some great Frugal Snob options these days! The one that really jumped out at Bag Snob is the Edie purse ($238), a classic flap shoulder bag with a precision-similar vibe to the Céline!
Most makeup artists say that you only need face primer and that you can use that one primer on your skin, lips, eyes, etc. After having condensed them into one, Beauty Snob can attest to the fact that you really do only need one for your entire face!
SHEfinds is all about the miracle dress (aka what to wear on fat days). Get one for yourself, a la Kate Winslet.
I love Project Runway! The challenges, seeing the design process, the cast and THE DRAMA. Getting the chance to attend the HP Project Runway Designer Reunion party during New York fashion week was a dream.
Seeing all the designers in one place and the camaraderie amongst the casts between the seasons was fantastic. They do really like each other! I tried to mingle and talk to as many of the designers as I could.
Here are the highlights:
Becky, Season 9
"Project Runway was emotionally draining, but I'm thankful for the opportunity. Life after Project Runway is weird, everything about me is on the Internet. I have an avatar! But, life is just beginning. I want to design for the average woman, a woman with curves who likes good design. I would love to [eventually] sell my line at Target."
Michael, Season 8
"Life after Project Runway is really great! I've been working on my own line Michael Costello Couture and having fun doing it."
Bert, Season 9
"Project Runway allowed me to get back to design after 20 years and it felt good. There was an age gap with the other designers and I have not really used technology to design before, but I want to. I'm learning!"
Mondo, Season 8
"I'm really happy. I've been focusing on activism. A lot of people expect a lot from me and that is hard. I just want to make an impact!"
Danielle, Season 9
"Project Runway was a hard balance of staying true to my design and making good TV. I learned a lot. I love being back in Minneapolis where there is so much design inspiration. "
I really like the integration of technology in to the planning/sketching phase so it was fun to try out the HP TouchSmart computers and create my own design – just like a Project Runway fashion designer!
You can see photos of the party on HP's flickr set and video below.

Do you like to take pictures with your iPhone? Do you like cute, cuddly characters? Think bunnies with teeth, dreamy rainbows, and smiling fruit. Mr. Chiizu ($2.99 on iTunes) is one of the cutest iPhone apps that lets you decorate your photos with cute themes, photo filters, stickers, pens and text bubbles. It's an app you can truly have fun with! Pictured above are my two little loves Chloe and Lulu. Seriously, I can't stop giggling over Lulu dressed as a mouse with balloons!
Mr. Chiizu was created by Stella Lai (pictured below) and Krister Olsson of Tree-Axis as well as designer/illustrator Jessica Lopez who made the Goth Loilita & Mr. Chiizu themes. Stella, Krister and I are old time web design peeps going back to the late 90's. I have always loved the design work from the duo. They know just the right way to utilize the best of technology while creating designs that are always super duper cute! The interface is really easy to use. New themes and designs will be added periodically starting this fall from some hip designers.

Tie front blouses are so feminine and sweet for fall. I am really loving how this '70s trend is being re-styled for 2011. Pair them with a chic pencil skirt and even mix up patterns like this Dots Within Blouse (at left, $118 at Anthropologie) or wear the color of the moment red, paired with a color-blocked pleated skirt like the Parker Tie Front Blouse (at right, $198 at Shopbop). I also love the look with a nice pantsuit for the office. For a more casual look, wear it with some wide-leg jeans or denim shorts a la Alexa Chung. Keep the bow looking slouchy or just do a loose knot to let the ends fly free.
Earlier this February, my friends over at Chronicle Books asked me as well as a few other fashion folks about what trends we saw coming from the New York Fashion Week fall shows. Designer Aya Akazawa (@petitgraphiste) wrote up this post on the Chronicle Books blog talking about the design process for creating these oh so stylish Pocketbooks that will be available soon.
I can't help that one of my favorite patterns this fall is polka dots and this sweet polka dot printed Pocketbook will look oh so stylish inside my handbag.
You can pre-order the set of Pocketbooks featuring 3 paperback mini journals (4" X 5 1/2") for$9.95. (Available after October 12, 2011)
If you missed it, check out my Fall 2011 fashion trend report featuring the colors, patterns, and styles you should look out for as you shop for your fall wardrobe.
(This post of mine was originally published on CRAFT in April 2011)
Last summer while vacationing in the southwest of France (the region where my husband is from) I got addicted to Pastis Landais, a sweet brioche that I literally would snack on throughout the day (related CRAFT post here). The pastries I enjoyed during my time there were all from this local bakery in Parentis en Born called Patisserie Bled Frédéric, run by a husband and wife team, Katia and Frédéric Bled. My mother-in-law frequents this patisserie and Katia and Frédéric were nice enough to open up their shop doors to give me a behind the scenes look at how french pastries are really done. What I observed was Frédéric's amazing attention to detail - every pastry looked beautiful and symmetrical - as well as his ability to multi-task between each projects of pastries and breads. Every pastry was a work of art as you can see and quite delicious as I taste tested most of them as my "research". If you ever get a chance to visit this enchanting town and summer lake vacation spot, you'll have to stop at this wonderful local patisserie for it's delicious treats and French charm.
I don't know about you but with all the color down the runways and in the magazines, I'm getting tired of my boring black wool coat. Right now I can't decide between the Steve by Searle Boyfriend Coat ($440 at Bloomingdales) or the DKNY Double-Breasted Wool Coat ($695 at DKNY.com). I love the easy breezy boxy shape that both coats have.
Here are more colorful coats to ease the fall/winter blahs:
Radenroro is one of my new favorite fashion brands I discovered this spring while watching Joe Zee's TV show, All on the Line. (See previous Coquette post here.) Designer Liquica Anggraini creates sleek, feminine, and sexy clothing that every woman must have in her closet. Her fall line debuted in Nordstroms and after seeing her new Spring collection, I am ready to wear those dresses now as SF is finally getting our long overdue summer.
From bright neons to red and yellow the collection is full of vibrancy. Her dresses are uber-stylish and perfect for a cocktail party or dinner out.
Liquica also created an abstract unicorn print and used that pattern for dreses, tops, skirts and more. I'm obsessed. (Last season, she created an abstract teddy bear print.)

To celebrate ten years working together, Kate Moss and the Rimmel London launched a new line of lipsticks today called The Kate Collection. The debut was perfectly timed on the eve of London Fashion Week. The lipstick collection features seven shades from her signature red to soft plum, peaches, and pinks.
At the press debut earlier today, Kate stepped out dressed in sophisticated shades of gray which was highlighted by her red lipstick in shade #1. After the trend in nude and sheer shade lipsticks this spring and summer, it's nice to see more red on lips. I'm not sure when it will be available in the U.S. but if you have a friend over the pond, it would be a fun addition to have to your makeup bag. I love the simple black tube signed "Kate" with a heart it as if it were written using a lipstick.
