Learning good skin care techniques and researching products have been at the top of my list for most of this year. It took a vacation to Hawaii and a facial at the Spa at the Four Seasons Maui to turn my skincare routine in the right direction. My esthetician was Lisa Mascaro who gave me the best facial I've honestly ever had. (Please request her if you are ever at the Four Seasons Maui!) Lisa looked over my skin and recommended I get the Kate Somerville Dermal Quench facial. I had heard of the Kate Somerville products before but I had never had a chance to try them out. My skin had been unusually dry on my forehead all summer so Lisa thought this would help even things out. Throughout my facial, Lisa started teaching me some amazing tips. (More on Lisa later as I'm really excited to announce that she will be answering your skincare questions here on Coquette soon!)
I wasn't sure if I wanted to try a new line of products since I spent most of the summer trying different products ranging from luxury brands to natural or organic. But just in case, I had Lisa write down for me a list of Kate Somerville products she recommended for my skin. After a few days, my skin still felt amazing and my forehead felt a lot softer than before. I did some research on Kate Somerville and decided to give myself a month to try out her products to see how it would work. I don't have wrinkles yet but I can see where they will form. (Starting with my forehead - ahhh!) Lisa recommended I start on an anti-aging skin care routine and she was right. (Btw, in France most girls start their anti-aging routine at 15 years old!) I really don't want my wrinkles to settle in my face just yet, so I'm doing my best to take care of my skin. I made a rule that no matter how tired I am, I must follow my little skin care routine that's only 5 minutes in the morning and less than 10 minutes at night. Plus, keep my body in great health by eating well and resting. After about a month now of using Kate Somerville products, I'm hooked because my skin has never looked or felt better!
I'm kicking off my skin care series on Coquette with a special interview with skin care expert, Kate Somerville! She's created a truly fantastic line of products and is the one celebrities go to for glowing, healthy skin before they hit the red carpet. I'm humbled that she's taken time out of her busy schedule to answer questions about her skin care line and for giving us tips on how we can all take better care of our skin this winter. I'll have the interview up sometime on Thursday!
Until then, watch this video below on Kate Somervile. Then find out more about my favorite Kate Somerville products I've been using after the jump!
Cleanser:
Gentle Daily Wash ($32) Use: Day and Night
I use this wash each morning and night. It's the most "clean" feeling cleanser I've ever used if that makes sense. My skin just feels like all the dirt and makeup is off. I use this wash with my Clairsonic brush about 3-4 times a week at night. I like how the cap twists so you can just get out a small drop of the cleanser.
Moisturizers:
CytoCell Dermal Energizing Treatment ($150) Use: Day
This is a great anti-aging day cream that keeps your skin hydrated all day. It also smells really good!
Deep Tissue Repair Cream with Peptide K8 ($150) Use: Night
This anti-aging cream really does it's job while you are sleeping! I can feel the elasticity in my skin and I feel like my skin is balanced overall. Again, as with all her products, a little goes a long way. I dab a bit of moisturizer in key points in my face and neck, then massage it all in.
Serums:
HydraKate Line Release Face Serum ($150) Use: Day
I really believe in serums now and use this one on my face and neck in the morning before I apply the Cytocell moisturizer. It improves the texture and tone of your skin and reduces the appearance of wrinkles. A little goes a long way here and I can cover my face/neck two pumps.
Quench Hydrating Face Serum ($65) Use: Night
This is the one product of Kate's that I can never live without! My previously dry forehead is now soft and supple thanks to this serum! So much good stuff is in here including Vitamin A to promote healthy looking skin. I think it's a must have for the cold winter weather coming up!
Eye Cream:
Line Release Under Eye Repair Cream * ($125) Use: Day and Night
I love the lightweight feeling of this eye cream and feel secure knowing that I'm keeping my delicate eye skin hydrated and fed with peptides and vitamins. I've found my eyes look less puffy too.
If dark circles haunt your eyes, Kate also has a special CytoCell Dark Circle Corrective Eye Cream ($75).
SPF 55 Serum Tinted Sunscreen ($45) Use: Day
In the morning, after I moisturize I use this tinted sunscreen to protect my skin. Nothing is more important than sunscreen to protect your face! Even in the winter, when it's not sunny out don't forget that the sun's rays I don't wear makeup every day so this is a great way to give me a bit of sheer color. (There's also a non-tinted face sunscreen as well.) This sunscreen is free of oils, parabens, and alcohol. It feels great going on and isn't greasy at all.
Mask:
Quench Hydrating Mask ($45)
To keep my skin looking good in between facials, I just started using the Quench Hydrating Mask last week. Love it! It's keeping my skin balanced and hydrated. I leave it on my face for about 25 minutes and then wash it off. Once I do, my skin feels plump and smoother.
