Tory Burch's Modern Twist on the Tweed Jacket

We all know the classic style of the Chanel tweed jacket - very French, no? Well Tory Burch gives a modern take on tweed, complete with raw edges and paired with colorful pants. I love both the Daniela Jacket (on sale for $315, also available in gold) and the Abageil Jacket (on sale for $297). It's a great casual and fun look for spring.

Kohl's Spring: A Little Bit of Shine

My second outfit from my shopping trip at Kohl's is something I like to call beachy gold and follows the spring trend for shine. I wanted shine to work for day and created this outfit that would work for a casual lunch with a friend as well as a Saturday out with the family. The entire outfit is from the Jennifer Lopez collection with jewerly from Daisy Fuentes. I have since worn this outfit a few more times out and about and have gotten a lot of compliments on it. No one believes I got this entire look for around $100. In fact, two of my girlfriends have already bought it.

Fashion Book: Stars in Dior

A new fashion book, Stars in Dior by Jerome Hanover ($65, published by Rizzoli) will be available this May in France and later in September in the U.S. From old Hollywood stars like Marilyn Monroe and Marlene Dietrich to today's celebs like Charlize Theron and Natalie Portman, few knew that in 1942 Christian Dior himself got his start as a costume designer before his couture house was created in 1946. This book features 250 photos of film stills, location shots, photographs and portraits of actresses – all dressed in Dior.

Pink of Perfection: The Perfect Spring Cardigan

A spring and summer staple of mine is the cotton cardigan. I usually always have one in black on hand but with this season's must-have trend of bold color upon us, having a cute cardi in a bright color sounds like much more fun. Land's End Fine Gauge Supina Crew Cardigan ($49) is the perfect basic cardigan that will take you through from now through even fall. I got mine in Palm Pink, a bright pink that's perfectly pink to wear on it's own or to create a color block outfit. I tend to love wearing my cardigans with a simple white tee over jeans but I love accessorizing the whole look, like with this vintage-looking necklace I scored online years ago.

The cotton fabric is great with a wonderful stretch. As much as I wear it for casual days, it also can polish off a dressy or workday outfit. The cardigan comes in fourteen colors with my favorites being Regent (purple), Glacier Blue (a great mint color), Chesterfield (yellow), and Phipps Orange.

Fall 2012 Preview: Coach Legacy Collection

Coach unveiled their Fall 2012 Legacy Collection on Monday night with a little preview party in Manhattan which I was so excited to attend. The collection is a new line based on the original bag designs Coach is so well known for, but with a 2012 twist of eye popping colors along with accessories, jewelry, sunglasses and shoes to match.



I grew up with Coach, so perhaps I am a bit nostalgic for the simple saddle bag with the lovely, functional clasp. I can't wait to buy the highlighter yellow duffle, wide and narrow cuffs in every eye-popping color, and the iPad case when they all go on sale August 1st. (We'll keep you posted when these beauties launch.) I'm swooning for the Men's line too – it's that good. My favorite is the brown courier bag with double clasp closure. Yes, please!



By the way, do you know where the signature Coach clasp comes from? (I just learned this myself at the party.) Turns out, designer Bonnie Cashin was inspired by the fasteners on the top of her convertible. Now this iconic clasp continues to shine again in the Coach Legacy Collection.

I have the iPhone 4S and I'm amazed at how with each iteration of the iPhone the camera just gets better and better. Most of the time, I no longer need to take my camera with me. Behind the Scenes of Chanel's Little Black Jacket

A couple of years ago at a special preview event at Chanel for their 2.55 bag exhibit, I was able to sneak away and browse around the upstairs (aka fancy expensive clothes) area of the Chanel boutique. One of the Sales Associates I knew, let me try on some Chanel clothes for fun. I slipped on the famous Little Black Jacket and knew instantly why Chanel is Chanel. The jacket fit perfectly and oh so comfortably. It looked sleek over my watercolored print dress but I knew it would also look stylish over t-shirt and jeans. The $4500 price tag of course made me realize that this kind of luxury isn't for everyone. But like Coco Chanel herself, I'm a crafty one who can sew. The beauty of Chanel jackets is that they are handmade and I hope one day to have a good chunk of time to make a stylish knit black jacket, just for me.

Kohl's Spring: A Dash of Bold Color

I've been on a hunt lately to add to the bold color trend to my wardrobe. I've been obsessed with getting a pair of bright colored jeans. On a shopping trip to Kohl's a few days ago, I discovered to my surprise the Elle brand. (Yes Elle as in Elle Magazine!) The brand's style totally fit me and I loved the comfort and quality of the clothing. Right away, the Elle Cuffed Denim Capris in Raspberry called out to me. These pants are strechy (aka so comfy!) and I love the options of how you can also leave the cuffs up or roll them down for a regular length look. I am 5' 6" and the hem fit perfectly.

The Elle Polka Dot Peplum Top I'm wearing with it's perfect jersey material and flouncy tulip bottom, was made all the sweeter with a coral ribbon tie. (I also got a striped black and white one with a yellow ribbon tie. (I don't see them on the web site now so check your nearest Kohl's.) I know that these two tops, along with my new colored denim are going to be my staples this spring and summer.

The new trend in color is a good pick-me-up and a way to re-energize yourself, especially after this dreary winter weather. It's such an easy way to turn up the level of your style. I especially loved that I could get this trend on a budget with the deals at Kohl's. I got this entire outfit as well as the extra top for under $100. I received so many complements on my jeans the day I wore these everywhere I went. I am going to have to go back and pick up the cobalt blue ones too. Mix and match colors to help make them pop but don't go too far either. For instance, I kept my shoes to simple black flat. You wouldn't want to wear color-blocked shoes here since with the polka dot pattern and the colored pieces, it would just be too much. On the other hand, if you are scared of bold color, you can incorporate it simply. The polka dot top with coral ribbon tie would look so chic with a pair of black pants or jeans. It's all up to you to discover your own look and have fun playing around with this bold color trend.
