Aveda Trashion Show - Sunday May 6 in SF

Over the years I have covered a lot of recycled projects while at CRAFT. One of my favorites is recycled fashion. In celebration of Earth Month, Aveda is holding their annual Trashion Show on Sunday, May 6th at Ruby Skye in San Francisco. Aveda’s April 2012 Earth Month campaign will inspire its network of beauty professionals and consumers in more than 30 countries to raise $4.5 million for the protection of clean water — a basic human right that nearly 900 million people worldwide fight for daily. Watch the video above of last year's Trashion Show.

In support of achieving this goal, Aveda and the Bay Area Aveda Salon Network will host a Catwalk for Water ‘Trashion’ Show with a goal of raising $67,000 to benefit the Clean Water Fund and the League to Save Lake Tahoe. Local salons will create a look made from trash and other eco-friendly/recycled materials, complete with runway hair, makeup and styling. Each salon can enter one model and will have one minute to showcase their look, concept and materials on stage during the show. A panel of judges will vote for Best Hair and Makeup, Best “Trashion” Outfit and Best Overall Look at the end of the night.

The event is open to the public! To purchase tickets call Aveda at 1-800-283-3244. Tickets are $30 per person for 21 years old or older.

The Best Canvas Bags to Take You into Summer

Candy Colored Ballet Flats

I wore my purple Tory Burch Elena flats on Sunday to a birthday party and it was the first time I've worn them since last summer. It felt great to have that pop of color to my neutral toned outfit so now I'm antsy to get a pair of ballet flats in yellow, red, pink, blue, or...you get the picture. JCrew must have read my mind because they now have so many gorgeous candy colored ballet flats to choose from.
