DL x Bag Snob: Snob Essentials Denim

There are a small select group of people I trust in terms of fashion, style, and beauty advice and my blog friends Tina and Kelly from Bag Snob are at the top of that list. This fall, the dynamic duo have collaborated with DL1961 jeans creating the capusle collection, Snob Essentials.

The collection consists of 7 beautiful denim styles, one for each day of the week:

• The Everyday Jean - classic skinny jean, perfect for day to night


• The Brunch - Jewel-toned Quartz or Jade flared jeans


• The Cocktail Pant - Jeans with chic leather trim


• The Travel Pant - Has a smartly placed zipper back pocket, perfect for your ID!


• The Hipster Pant - brown checked pattern for the downtown hipster


• The Black Tie Substitue - Jeans with gold baroque print (pictured above, right)


• The Transition Jean - Dip-dyed at the leg for a subtle ombré effect(pictured above, left)

Each jean has DL1961’s signature X-FIT 4-way stretch denim which brings amazing, amazing comfort. Seriously, you won't want to take off your jeans when you get home. They are really *that* comfortable. I receieved a pair of the Everyday Jean, the Amanda in Bolt ($168), pictured above. These skinny jeans are the perfect shade of dark blue. I love how they make my legs look slimmer and they also keep everything in the right place. I found the waistband to be the most comfortable too where typically this doesn't happen in jeans. They are so stylish and feel so fabulous on that now I'm thinking I may need add some ombre denim into my wardobe.

High-Style Knit: Helmut Lang Textured Intarsia Sweater

This Helmut Lang Textured Intarsia Sweater ($370 at Shopbop) caught my eye one day while breezing through a department store. I was going to be late for an appointment so I didn't have time to find out more about it and try it on. Luckily, a few days later I spotted a photo online of Lea Michele wearing it.

Where do I even start on this beauty? First, I adore the asymmetrical shape. It's something that you don't see that often in sweater knits. The open knit striped design also gives it just the right edge. Which is why this sweater looks sublime paired with leather, but also looks equally fresh with denim. My only fear would be a horrible sweater snag, but honestly the looks you'll get wearing this sweater will be well worth the fear. That said, it's not one to throw on for a quick trip to Whole Foods. Rather, it's the perfect stylish companion for a polished day or evening look – a sweater that's well worth the indulgence, I say.

Coquette in the WSJ

Today's Wall Street Journal has a skin care article, "When Skin Cream Gets Bossy" by Elizabeth Holmes that features my experience with Clarins Shaping Facial Lift Serum ($75) which I posted last month on Coquette.

It was great telling Elizabeth my story and experience with the Clarins serum. Make sure you click to watch her video talking about the process as well as the differences in American and European/Asian women's beauty routines. After being in France, I learned so much more about skin care. I realized that the key to having good skin lies in the application techniques. This is why I applaud Clarins for introducing this French style of skin care to the U.S.

The Clarins Shaping Facial Lift Serum is by far one of the best products I've tried. I've been using it for almost three months now and it's well worth the minimal effort to do the facial techniques outlined in the little booklet. I had no "double chin" photos from our vacation at all. No joke. Last week, my mom's best friend, a Chinese "auntie" saw me for the first time in year. She was convinced I lost weight and kept repeating it. I told her that was impossible since I actually gained 5 pounds from my trip to France. She finally said stubbornly, "No, I can tell you lost weight. Your face looks skinner!" And that's when I knew it was from using this serum!

Gap's Ponte Academy Blazer

Every gal needs a blazer in her wardrobe and this Ponte Academy Blazer ($88 at the Gap) is a perfect fall transitional piece. The blazer comes in an array of colors from fuchia to navy, but I love the sunburst yellow trim to this heather gray version. So perfect!

Fall Style Pick: Stuart Weitzman Spats

This is my favorite time of year when the fall collections hit stores and online. I'm always the search for a perfect pair of boots each season and these Stuart Weitzman Spats ($695 at stuartweitzman.com) are the best. They work perfectly for a dressed up look and can even help snazzy up a casual denim outfit. The pull-on suede boots go up to the knee and the button "spats" and fold-over detail are the accents that make these boots a must-have. Choose from Black or Topo suede.
