I'm still delirious on Hawaii time having spent the last ten days there enjoying the beach, pools and more on the big island. We stayed at the Four Seasons Hualalai and it was the perfect place for our little family to just relax. I brought my laptop with the intention to do some blog posts by the pool but there must be something in the air that just prevents your brain from functioning "real world" activities. (I never even took it out of it's sleeve!) Instead, I ate too much, read my book and lots of cheesy magazines, swam with the fishes and eagle ray, held a little seahorse, watched the turtles sleep on the beach and drank yummy cocktails. Coming back to earth now has been slow going. The trip overall re-energized my body and my creative spirit and I am happy to be back home.
Here are some photos from my Instagram documenting my trip. Aloha!
{Drinks and cold towels greeted us at the Four Seasons upon arrival. The smallest glass had juice for my 4 year old.}
{The beautiful sunset during dinner on my first night in Hawaii.}
{Doodling by the pool with a Japanese drawing book I got two years ago. I finally had time to unwind and draw!}
{You could always find turtles resting on the beach in the afternoon and early evening.}
{Our waiter at the Beach Tree restaurant recommended a Mojito with mango rum. This turned out to be my favorite drink to have on the trip. So yummy!}
{Beautiful sunset at the Beach Tree.}
{The lei-making table was working overtime at the Luau.}
{We visited the Seahorse Farm and got to see all the teeny-tiny baby seahorses. The highlight was getting to hold a little seahorse. They are extremely light and their tails are so soft. I was surprised that this little guy barely had a grip on me.}
{Little geckos were everywhere and my daughter and I loved spotting them on the grass or on the little pool cabanas. This little boy somehow caught one so we could see him up close. He let it go free later.}
{It was a breezy afternoon, aka bubble time.}
{This is the fire and ice sushi at the Ulu Ocean Grill at the resort. A couple at the table next to us had it and we were intrigued. It was on top of dry ice and then blowtorched at our table by the server. My husband and I literally devoured them in 2 minutes.}
{We all fed the Eagle Ray at Kings Pond at the resort. I have to admit we were all scared but the 3 of us did it and loved the whole experience. He is 17 years old and just sucked the food out of our hands. He felt very, very slippery.}
{This is my last mango mojito a few hours before I flew back home. After I took this photo, a couple of humpback whales were splashing in the ocean in the distance.}
{As fabulous as a vacation in Hawaii can be, nothing beats coming home to my little Lulu.}
