Remember when the Shu Uemura eyelash curlers were said to be the "best"? Apparently they aren't anymore thanks to the newly updated Shiseido 'The Makeup' Eyelash Curler ($19 at Nordstrom).
A few weeks ago, I was at the Chanel counter at a major department store. I was looking at their new foundations and the makeup artist tried some on me. She asked me if I wanted a quick makeup refresh. I told her sure but it all had to look natural. She lined my eyes with a soft brown shadow and then curled my eye lashes. As a background, my lashes are sort of long but they are stick straight, usually always pointing down. When I looked in the mirror after she curled my lashes, I couldn't believe at how long my own lashes looked!
She told me the secret was 2 things. First, this new Shiseido eyelash curler had a wider mouth to grab all the lashes from the roots, like seriously every single lash. Second, it was all about the curler pumping technique. The trick was to do 3-4 quick pumps and then one long squeeze of the curler at the end. She told me that Shu Uemura used to be very good, but now that Shiseido had updated theirs, this one was even better. Needless to say, she could have peddled me the Chanel curler but didn't (even though I do have it and use it at home). She swore by her Shishedo and carries her own in her working makeup bag for clients. Of course, the proof was there and I immediately ran over to the Shiseido counter after I was done and picked up my own pair of magic eyelash curlers.
The moment of truth? When my husband came home that night and asked me if I was wearing eye lash extensions because he had never seen my lashes so long! (The only time I wore eyelash extensions was for our wedding almost 8 years ago.)
So there you have it. I now swear by the Shiseido eyelash curlers. Don't forget to always do the pump/squeeze technique. It works!
