I've been going light with my makeup lately and wanted to share what I've been doing. For eyes, Estee Lauder's Instant Intense Eyeshadow in Beach Metals ($38 at Nordstrom) is one of my all time favs. It's my go to summer palette. I love bringing this on vacation as it's a really compact. I don't know why I even bother bringing other palettes because this will be the only one I end up using. I've had mine for two years now and just started to hit pan so I need to get myself another one soon. Why do I love this palette so much? First off, it really is a gorgeous palette that naturally enhances your eyes. It has just the right shimmer and the golden tones of muave and brown warm up my complexion. I like to add a light touch of brown eyeliner so the look stays light and fresh. If I'm on vacation and going out at night, I'll darken the eyeliner and add more of the brown shadow for dimension.
Here is a swatch of the Estee Lauder palette in natural light.
For lips, I'm really loving a natural nude look. (I just did a roundup for Natural Summer Lips on Racked SF that you can check out.) Currently, my favorite thing to do is to line my lips with Rimmel's Lasting Finish 1000 Kisses lipliner in 007 Rose Quartz ($3.97 on Amazon). I line my lips and then color my lips in. I have the Rimmel Exaggerate twist up liners but like the old fashioned pencil ones the best.
Then I dab some Dior 'Creme de Rose' Smoothing Plumping Lip Balm SPF 10 ($28 at Nordstrom) which gives my lips hydration and shine. It's such a beautiful combination and it lasts!
On my cheeks, I use Milani Baked Blush in 05 Luminoso ($12.59 at Amazon) and I highlight the tops of my cheeks with Clinique 'Chubby Stick' Sculpting Highlight ($21 at Nordstrom). I really could not live without this easy to use highlighting stick!
There you have it! Easy summer makeup that's no fuss and gives you a natural glow.
