A few months ago, one of my girlfriends gave me a bottle of Chanel Lift Lumiere Firming and Smoothing Sunscreen Fluid Makeup ($67 at chanel.com) because she bought the wrong shade for herself. Just a few days ago, I discovered it in my medicine cabinet and figured there was no better time than now to give it a try. I used it sparingly and thinned it out with a foundation brush all over my face. For the rest of the day, I couldn't believe how fresh faced my skin was when I looked in the mirror. I use my NARSisist Cheek Kit (A Sephora only palette that is now unavailable. Comes with 3 shades: bronzer, blush and highlighter) almost every day. It really brought out the best of my make up and my highlights just glowed. I haven't purchased a Chanel foundation in maybe 8 years so discovering this was a pleasant surprise.
I was kind of a skeptic that it was this foundation making my skin look so amazing. I attributed it to the fact that my skin was just feeling better because I was doing more hydrating masks (which I believe it has helped the makeup to sit better on my skin). So yesterday, I used my Laura Mercier Tinted Moisturizer instead and again with the NARS Cheek Kit. I can't tell you how disappointed I was when I would see myself in the mirror throughout the day without the "glow" I had on the day before.
This morning, I just had to see if it was true and used Chanel Lift Lumiere on my entire face lightly with a foundation brush. (I use Estee Lauder Sculpting Foundation Brush 2.) I noticed the first time I applied it my forehead looked drier with the foundation so I made sure today to really thin out the foundation and apply my forehead last. That worked! Seriously, today I now have a fabulous glow to my face on this gloomy, rainy day. I spritzed some Jo Malone Peony & Blush Suede and I'm ready to meet a friend for lunch.
The foundation feels so light on my face that my Laura Mercier Tinted Moisturizer which is also light -- feels heavier in comparison. There are only four shades of this foundation 14 Ivory, 30 Cendré, 40 Beige, 41 Soft Bisque. I have it in 20 Clair which looks like it isn't available anymore. This is supposed to be an anti-aging foundation with skincare elements but I have only used it twice so I can't tell if it's really benefiting my skin. I do notice the overall beautiful glow and how it lets my makeup work it's magic.
